Southwest Florida’s waterfront isn’t one place. Cape Coral’s freshwater and saltwater canals, the tidal Caloosahatchee at Fort Myers, the open water of Pine Island Sound, the barrier islands, the bays of south Lee, Charlotte Harbor and Lemon Bay each put different loads on a lift. Permits differ too: seven cities and towns run their own building offices, and the rest of each county goes to the county. Every page below is written for that community, not copied from the next one.
